Requiste Welcome Post.

I'm Becca, a university student and aspiring novelist. In my spare time I slay vampires with my rapier wit.

This whole Twilight phenomenon both horrifies and fascinates me. Kind of like documentaries about serial killers that are just so disturbing and sickening, but you HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS (in this case the killer is Stephenie Meyer and the victims are society and my brain cells). Anyway. So, I spend a lot of time procrastinating real work by crawling around the internet seeing what people have to say about the series, a lot of which is pretty funny. A lot more of which is pretty disheartening.

The internet has played sort of an interesting role in all of this, really. Things like the twilightmoms website, twitter and various blogs have played a big part in the rise of the series' popularity. A while back when I was bemoaning the fact that, in order to write a paper for my Plan of Concentration (easiest explanation is to say it's my college's version of a thesis), I would have to re-read all four of the books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn), my friend Hannah suggested that I should blog through the books as I read them. You know, make witty, sarcastic remarks but also Statements of Great and Profound Insight. Which I thought was a great idea. If I'm lucky, I may even be able to use this as part of my Independent project. Fingers crossed!

So here goes. Expect a lot of snark and sarcasm, a lot of hating on Bella, and a LOT of complaining about why Stephenie Meyer appears to hate feminism or female agency of any kind.

Cheers!
